An October 31 workshop at the NY AES Convention featured (L-R) statistician Josh Reiss (Queen Mary University, London), famed recording engineer and academic (McGill, Montreal) George Massenburg, binaural recording specialist Bob Schulein, and supremo mastering engineer Bob Katz discussing testing hi-rez recordings. Reiss presented a meta-analysis derived from the data of 20 published blind tests, showing that although the individual tests had mixed results, the overall result was that trained listeners could distinguish between hi-rez recordings and their CD equivalents under blind conditions to a high degree of statistical significance! — at Javits Center. :W
