The same as the best for any other high fidelity speaker.
So, how much can you afford? No pre amp is the best way to go with the right digital front end. Get a DAC with a good digital volume control and a righteous noisier floor- say, NAD M51, Weiss DAC202, or TotalDAC D1- or go with a Scarlatti stack from dCS if you have the cojones. Amp, well, how low do you want your distortion? I'd start with looking at nCore based products. If you like euphonic colorations, then an Audio Research reference series tube amp, or JL1 signature mono blocks might be the setup for you.the AudioWorx

Yup. The best pre amp is no pre amp. But if your not looking to invest in a new DAC, and your source (CD player?) has a good output stage, then run a passive pre amp. Goldpoint and many other make affordable products like this.Seek out and destroy early high gain room reflections- Bottom

I have been fortunate enough to spend a couple days (yes days! lol) at my local B&W and Rotel dealer. I spent most of my time listening to the differances between the rotel amp/pre amps and stereo recievers through the B&W 705's. Out of everything in the room and what was in my price range I...-

by DocNiceAs I wait for more parts to finish my Statements II, I'm starting to think ahead of amplification needs. I think my Yamaha HTR-6240 is likely to fall a bit short and want some advice. Everywhere I read that AV receivers are inferior. The separate amp/pre-amp seems to be the highest quality, but DAMN...-

by capallHi,
I'm considering the RA1570 Integrated DAC/Amp for a 2 channel setup, and possibly to combine it with a AVR for a 5.1 setup in the future. 2ch though is my main priority. My budget is under $2k and have a pair of B&W 683 speakers
However, does anyone have any feedback on how...-

by jazznsoccerOk - I've looked at DVD players and the best one out there seems to be the Denon 5900. However, this DVD player seems to be so good that I should bypass all of my pre/pro circuitry and just analog bypass on to my amp. Now the question is why should I buy a high end pre/pro (such as Rotel 1098) to go...-
