    Dedicated power amp or reciever

Hello I'm primarily an audiophile (2 channel stereo music)
    My question is-

I have a older yamaha MX 2 power amp that I am considering using for the front speakers with the pre amp out from a newly purchased Yamaha RX-V2700. Does anyone know which would give me better 2 chanal stereo for music. Or what the down side would be if any, for suround mode.

    Thanks :B

If you are a two channel guy, and you want great sound you need to go with separates amp/pre/cd player. This way you can have options, with a receiver you do not have an option with your amp preamp choices.

It all depends on what you are after. If you are not going to be nuts about it then a receiver will do just fine. If you want to have fun tweaking then get separates.

That's sort of what the OP described. The power amp will be used for the front channels utilizing the AVRs pre-outs, and the rest of the HT channels will be served by the AVR. Should be a good setup, provided its a good power amp. The v2700 is no slouch.

RB-1080 or RB-1070 power amp to purchase?
        by thyname
Hi guys: As I am thinking more and more to upgrading to separates, I came to a question of whether should I consider a 2 Ch RB 1080 or RB-1070. I initially thought of just purchasing 1070 as it is USD 300 cheaper and I think 130 W per channel is more than enough. However, I know that 200 per channel...
