    AMP'S

    Howdy All

This is a question about amps hooking up an amp to my reciever .
I have a Onkyo M-501 and a Sony reciever . The amp has 4 speaker inputs , and is 2x150 watts.
If my reciever puts out 75 watts and my amp puts out a 100 does the speaker get 175 watts or did i mess up some where .
I am lost on this amp thing its to funny .LOL :?

Tibor, no no no. The ONLY way you can output your signal from your receiver to an amp is with line level outputs. As in RCA outputs. By line level, that means there's no real wattage on that signal, except for low level pre-amp signal. Therefore, your amps in your receiver are now paperweights, and have no input into the sound.

However, your real appreciable gain may in fact be like 175 when you consider the likely power supply gains by going from receiver power to seperate amp. As well, it should lower your noise floor, and give you a cleaner sound.

    Make sense?

Classe Amps - Possible Case for Speaker Wires

Possible case that speaker wires and balanced versus RCA connections make a difference that I had not considered.

This hobby is complex in nature, and it's interesting that one gets to continue learning along the way through experimentation.

Case in point: I have owned...

I was ready to squeeze the trigger on a clean pair of 802 N speakers, when I got other choices presented that have me confused. I could really use some help making my final decision.

      Current set-up: Pioneer Elite VSX-82TXS (7 x 130 watts receiver); Classe CAV-150 (6 x 150 watts amp with...

Speaker wire, amp or room treatments?
      by John Holmes
I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and if so, what were your findings?

I tend to get a sort of " sssssss" sound at the end of certain vocals. It isn't as noticable on instruments.

I have switched speakers (brands) back and forth so, I know the tweeters...
