    Headphone amp

I am looking for a headphone amp that will enhance the sound of my AKG 701s. I have zeroed in on the Creek OBH 21. Anyone have any experience with the Creek? JNorth1178

I've never used a creek, but hear they are OK.
If you haven't already, head over to www.headfi.org or more specifically

I drive 701's from headphone jack on benchmark dac1 - seems to work fine.

          headphone choice

Again thanks for the additional sites. They DO get pricey, don't they? I did order the Creek. When it arrives I think I will show her a print out of one of the pages showing the options I had to choose from. It may soften the blow and allow me to keep my "inexpensive" Creek. Good listening. Give us some feedback after you have chance to listen to it for while.
From what I have heard, the Creek is known as V good value.
            Hope it meets your expectations!
            Congrats & Enjoy!

I use a Ray Samuels Audio "Hornet" with my 701's out of a Wadia cdp and it makes for some very good listening.
@ $370 my first thought was "huh", but, don't let its "portable" size fool you.

Good work saving money. It might be better you never get an account on headfi. Their favorite saying is "sorry for your wallet".

I finallly purchased the Creek OBH21. Got it yesterday. It sounds great. Clean, clear and open. I notice when I take them off, the sound I get from my speakers varies little from the sound I was getting from the headphones. My speakers are B&Ws. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.
