    Headphone amp in Rotel 1070

Anybody here ever used the headphone output amp on a Rotel 1070 Pre-Amp ? Is it sufficient to run a pair of AKG K701 Headphones or will it still require a separate headphone amp ?
    thanks,

Just for anybody's Info. The Rotel 1070 headphone output is excellent. Tried the AKG 701 on it and it does one hell of a job.

Forget about the 1070 headphone output and try a good dedicated headphone amp, then you will understand why some of us can't listen anymore to any output of pre-amps.
They are poor sounding, even if it 1070 seems acceptable at first, nothing to compare with real amp.

You can also build your own amp, e.g. AMB M3 is pretty amazing.

                Glenee,
I agree with your review of the output on the RC1070. I must also add that their phono stages are good, too. I have a RC1070 (MM phone) and RC1090 (MC/MM phono) and am very happy with both.

I am looking for a headphone amp that will enhance the sound of my AKG 701s. I have zeroed in on the Creek OBH 21. Anyone have any experience with the Creek? JNorth1178

Thoughts on the RC-1070 vs 1090

I am in the process of upgrading my N804s to N803s, and at about the same time I want to add a pre to my RCD-1072 and RB-1080. The question is, I am a loudspeaker guy and will not use the headphone feature on RC-1090, nor will I be using the balanced connections.

                  One reason for this...

                  headphone output - noobie question
                  by JonJeffman
                  Hey,
Not sure if this is a dumb question or not, but if a piece of equipment doesn't advertise it as having a headphone amp, are all the headphone outputs the same (i.e. like a line out or something)?

I was looking at buying some Sennheiser HD650's and read that they really need...

                  Headphone amp for RSP-1098?
                  by whmacs
                  Hi All,
I'm contemplating getting a headphone amp for my RSP-1098 to improve two channel listening (I've got Jamo THX speakers which are great for movies, but not so good for music). I am tossing up between the MF XCAN v3 and the Creek OBH21SE. I've currently got a pair of Senn HD570 headphones,...

All you with headphones but no Dolby Headphone Processing

Okay so the wife constantly tells you to put on the "cans" so as not to wake her or the kids. I like my headphones but I got a taste of the Dolby Headphone track on Perl Harbour and began my quest for a receiver that incorporated this algorithm. Well I settled on a Panny Digital Amp...but...
