    Balanced XLR or Unbalanced RCA

    Hi, could anyone explain the diferrence between these two setups and which one is better for overall performance and why? Thanks

    Moving since it's a general topic and not Rotel specific.

    Balanced uses three wires to send the signal; Signal+, Signal-, and ground. In an unbalanced cable you have two wires; Signal+ and Signal-/ground.

    Balanced has the potential to give you lower noise & less interference, especially over long cable runs. You typically won't hear a difference unless all pieces in the system are truly balanced and you are using long cables runs.
