Can I use XLR to connect RSP1582 to amp and RCA to connect RSP1582 to sub?

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm contemplating getting a Rotel RSP 1582 preamp that has XLR outs so that I can connect my preamp to my amp using XLR's (balanced connection). Would it be possible to use RCA (unbalanced) out to connect my sub, a Vandersteen V2W, while at the same time connecting my pre-amp to amp using XLR?

My speakers are Vandersteen 5's and have a highpass filter that goes between the amp and preamp that is XLR.

I've searched and can't get a definitive answer as to whether this would be ok, or do something weird. From what I gather it would be really bad to use both RCA and XLR outs for the same connection.*thanks for your help

Absolutely. This is the setup I'm using. 1582 Balanced XLR -> Emotiva amp, 1582 RCA -> powered subwoofer.

Hi all, new to this forum

I recently (NOV 2015) purchased a Furman Elite 15pfi, the new Rotel RSP-1582, RMB1585 and RB1582mk2 for my dedicated HT room.

it's all been working fine for a few weeks and now when I turn on a ceiling fan (same room) I get a very loud pop/clip...

      Hi,

Can someone please help. If I connect both the rca and xlr inputs on the above amp at the same time how does the unit switch between the two if it recevies a signal from both as there is no switch?

Is this an unwise move? I am trying to fix my no ht bypass on my stereo...

      XLR or 1/4"?
      by -Haro-
I can't seem to find a cut and dry answer to this so I'll post it here and see if anyone can help me.

I just purchased a Behringer EP-2500 for a DIY sub I'm building and I need to connect the amp to my Yammy RXV-1500.

Do I use RCA to 1/4" or RCA to XLR? And if XLR,...
