    Help on connection...

I decided to forgo my plans of using one sub to complement the bass on my 2-channel setup(hifi) and to complete my surround setup. So I bought another sub so each setup has its own. I always go the "used" way or else it will be very impractical for me if I go the other way.

Now my question is in my hifi setup, if I include a sub along the link, how would I go about it? Here's my setup:

Tube preamp (without bass management and sub-out)
    2-channel amp
    electrostatic panel speakers
    powered sub

I got this info from a friend of mine. Connect the sub to the left output of the preamp by a "y connector". The sub i have has a X-over freq. and a gain/volume dial. So I guess the adjustment would be by ear inorder to match the speakers. What's the bad side to this connection?

    Thanks,

    Aris

Well, you would only be getting bass from the left channel, first of all.

I would get something like Paradigm's activeXO, the X-30.

Does your sub have a left and right input, by chance? In that case, you could get a Y-connector for both your L/R channels.

I'd set the gain with a SPL meter, but the XO wil have to be set by ear unless you have some sort of measurement tools. You CAN set the gain by ear if need be.

            by stuofsci02
            Hi All,

I need some help with this one. I currently have a set of 804s that are used 70% for stereo music 30% for HT. For center I have HTM61 which I plan to change to HTM3S if I can find one, and for rears I have a set of Tannoy F1 bookshelfs. I have never had a sub with any of my...

            Running a sub with 2 channel . . .
            by NMG
I'm just curious how many of you use a sub in your 2 channel systems (I guess that would make them 2.1 . . . LOL)?

My system consists of a pair of Paradigm Studio 80's, a Rotel RB-1080 power amp, a Rotel RC-1070 preamp, a Paradigm PW-2200 sub and a Yamaha CDC-755 CD changer.

Integra DTR 5.3 w/ KEF sub question
            by mjt444
First post - apologies in advance if this is in the wrong thread.

Current setup: Integra DTR 5.3/DPC 7.4 with KEF PSW 1150 and the KEF HTS 2001.3 satellites (eggs) as wall mounted surrounds. My fronts are B&W DM303 and the matching LCR3 for center. I just purchased the DM 303s...

Line level sub connection - mono?
            by rcchap
Looking to hook my sub up via the line level pre outs (front speaker) of my reveiver. I've got a typical sub wire that has a t-type splitter on one end. Would it work connecting the front L and R speaker preouts to a single line in on the sub or should it be reversed. My inclination is the first...

Sub connection on SSP-800 and CP-800 combined
            by aarsoe
            Hi

Anybody having experience with having both the SSP-800 and the CP-800 and using one sub connected to both? Using the newer DB is easy as it has two inputs and a trigger connect to switch between them, but what about the rest of us that have subs with only high and low inputs - like...
