Upload image size is 100k per attachment, 5 attachments per post is the limit.
If you're posting links off a hosting server there is no size limit, but it's nice to consider those not having broadband connections

Thanks John. Yeah we were pretty close. I've thoroughly agitated my wife in the process with the amount of time I've spent on these in the evenings. She did manage to say they were huge.... and looked nice last night!

DancesWithBeers you are correct about the color. I used Transtint orange (100:1 ratio) as was recommended on several sites for walnut in order to warm it.

rob17, it's walnut with the orange color brushed on and amber shellac and Danish oil and more amber shellac and finally wipe on poly which goes on thin enough that it doesn't get that plastic look.Comment

Having finally gotten motivated, (and able to live without the speakers for a week or more) I'm right in the middle of veneering. I'm doing it the hard way, with raw veneer, and pieces that are only 6" wide. lots more work, but only $25 for enough to do the LCR.Originally posted by sawdust

Those are two magnificent looking speakers. I'm more of a redwood kind of guy (cherry, rosewood etc), but the walnut is gorgeous. And I'm so jealous! Unfortunately, my abode is a little cramped, better suited to bookshelves, so I took Curt's advice and changed from the towers to the Monitor Statements. Darn... had the MDF cut and everything, sigh. Oh well, the Monitors are going to sound just about as sweet with a sub. Although, there are the tower designs kicking around now...I'm spoiled, and I intend to stay that way.Comment

The depth and luster I believe comes from the amber shellac. It takes some practice to apply as it dries very very fast; you need to thin it. A 1lb cut is what I used. Amber shellac and walnut are a match made in heaven IMO.

The Emotiva stuff doesn't usually get to hot. My XPA-3 and RPA-2 never got more then warm really.

The UMC-1 sounds really nice, even the 2 channel direct (no DSP) stuff. I still prefer my Parasound 2100 preamp for two channel, but not by much. I've had a few issues like many have stated on their forums. The EMO-Q needs a bit of tweaking and I have an issue with my DISH receiver using an HDMI connection causing it to shut down when I power off the UMC-1. I'm waiting for another firmware update that is currently in the works to correct this stuff. Overall I'm happy with it.Originally posted by Dougie085Comment

I have used the ND65-4 in a few builds and have been pretty impressed with them. Most of the time, I just used them in a sealed enclosure, as I tried to keep the size down. This time, I decided to use a 1" port.
