Was the Dayton RS52 ever released with an aluminum faceplate?

Hi all,

I keep reading about how the Dayton RS52 mid has an aluminum faceplate...

Yet my pair has a plastic faceplate...

Are there two kinds of RS52's?

Mine are aluminum. Painted, but definitely not plastic.

They look a bit like plastic, so I could see why you are thinking this.

Mine are painted metal.

Visaton MHT12, Dayton RS52, Seas ER18RNX crossed at 3.5K and 800HZ. If I like it, I'll will add a sub bass bin for TV/HT. Hope to get some testing done on it today in fact, since I'm reusing some old cabinets- just have to modify the midrange hole a bit.

Yeah, the flange is kinda whimpy, but it is definitely metal, otherwise it would flex all over the place! Just take your finger and flick it on the edge and you'll hear the metallic sound.
