Was the Dayton RS52 ever released with an aluminum faceplate?

    Hi all,

I keep reading about how the Dayton RS52 mid has an aluminum faceplate...

Yet my pair has a plastic faceplate...

Are there two kinds of RS52's?

Hmmm, my current pair and those that I've tested in the past are aluminum.

Mine are aluminum. Painted, but definitely not plastic.

Jed, what are you going to do with them, if I might ask?

They look a bit like plastic, so I could see why you are thinking this.

Visaton MHT12, Dayton RS52, Seas ER18RNX crossed at 3.5K and 800HZ. If I like it, I'll will add a sub bass bin for TV/HT. Hope to get some testing done on it today in fact, since I'm reusing some old cabinets- just have to modify the midrange hole a bit.

Thanks - now I'm definitely curious! I didn't have a chance yesterday to take a look at them.

Yeah, the flange is kinda whimpy, but it is definitely metal, otherwise it would flex all over the place! Just take your finger and flick it on the edge and you'll hear the metallic sound.
