    Got sony kdl-40s2000 bravia/dvd player ?

I haven't been here in a while so i havent kept up with everything.Anyhow i just got the 40s2000 last week and am presently using denon dv2200 player via component since i also use my rotel rsx1056.Would an upconversion player be benificial to me.Would i notice a big difference in pq.I can always just use the denon for dvda/sacd only if need be.I also realize i would have to use the hdmi if i got an upconversion player.I'm just trying to get the best of what i have.Or would i be better off with a hd dvd player like the toshiba.I simply dont know. Thanks

Your display automatically upscales any incoming signal to it's native rate anyway so it's more a matter of which does a better job, the player or your display.

As for the HD-DVD player, apparently they do a pretty good job of upscaling SD-DVD's besides being a able to play HD discs but it's up to you whether you want to buy a first gen new tech and in the middle of a format war....?

In that case, I'd maybe skip upscaling players. Very few will allow you to set a custom resolution to match the Sony, most do only 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i. Your Sony would just have to turn around and scale it to 1366x768 anyway.

If it were me, I'd just stick with the Denon until you jump into HD DVD or Blu-Ray.

I saw post from Dean about DVD upconversion problems with an infocus screenplay 5000. Has anyone else experienced this? I also have an sp5000 and assumed it was a problem with the projector itself and not the dvd player. At this point I have tried a Denon 1910 and a Toshiba 5970 (with hdmi to dvi...

Question: I watch SD DVDs on a 42" 1080p display. what type of player offer better upconversion (will show best), an SD upcoverting player via HDMI (Oppo 981) or an HD player (Toshiba HD-XA2)? At half the price, the oppo seems the obvious choice, but what am I missing here? thanks for the inpu...
