    The Passion of The Christ

Picked up my copy yesterday. Great cinematography. I was disappointed though in the sound quality. Used the DTS and it wasn't as dynamic as I thought it should be nor as I remembered it from the theater.

    Thoughts anyone....

Still haven't pulled the trigger on this one J. I'm attracted and repelled at the same time, you know?

I know what you mean David. What I will say is that it still is a very moving movie. That being said though, I didn't find it nearly as moving as the original viewing. It is such a powerful (and overpowering) movie that I don't think you can reach that identical gut wrenching emotion as the first time you see it. It is disturbing and humbling regardless, that a man went through so much torture for me (I am a devout Christian). I decided to buy it because in my darkest days it will provide me yet another reminder of how fortunate I am and that there is no pain I could have inflicted on me that would compare to what Christ went through. It is a tough movie to see, if you haven't already, because of how violent it is. Terribly disturbing.

I could go on and on....

I'm waiting for the SE in February. Truly a powerful and moving movie(experience).

Do you know what will be different about the SE version vs. what was just released?

No I don't. I suspect we'll get lots of extras and bonus features(deleted scenes etc). I would suspect the audio and video will remain the same.

We watched this on the weekend. I think we all have a pretty good idea on the plot/story etc. I'll just say it's pretty hard to not have an emotional response to the spectacle of suffering and pain in front of you. There were definitely a few points were I couldn't help but tear up.

The picture was good, sound was good but honestly It was hard to even pay attention to give an accurate critique of either as the material itself is just to overwhelming. I do remember the storm/earthquake part being quite thunderous so there is some definite LF to look forward to.

Not a feel good movie by any stretch of the imagination but a very powerful film that even non-religious and other-faith people should watch at least once if nothing else to hopefully appreciate what we have and learn from humanity's cruel past.

Yes, indeed I actually have the DVD, but have not viewed it yet. I have a relative who loves movies, and I asked her to watch this one with me. She said I don't want to see it again for at least another year. That was the impact it had on her, I guess I need to view it soon.

                    Whew,

Hmmm... I had no idea that a Special Edition disc was coming out. I just snatched up the Widescreen DVD that just came out. Haven't watched it yet.
