No real surprises for me, except for best director. I knew Foxx was going to take best actor after watching him in RAY. I really thought Scorcese was going to win best director this year, though, but Eastwood is one helluva director, and even though I haven't seen Million Dollar Baby as yet, what I have seen of it certainly looked terrific. Way to go, Clint.

I liked the new format, to speed things along....I was however disappointed with the "presentation in your seat" style. It takes away from the achievement and diminishes the winner's accolades. I found that to be in poor taste, as those winners had every right (maybe moreso ) to be up on stage as any other member of the academy. Whether it's Clint Eastwood (well known) or some lesser known foreign film screenwriter or musician....they should all get equal time, as I doubt actors dues are any more than any other academy member.

So I had no problem with bringing out all the potential winners on stage in pagentry fashion....I had a big problem with the presenting the awards in the balcony approach. Those winners earned the right to be up on stage as anyone else (even if the "bigger" artistry awards are more publically known).

What's the point of the awards then?

I'd be right pissed if they treated me that way and would tell them where to go with their member dues. These awards are for academy member achievements. the fact that we the public gets to watch, is a plus.

Just my feeling on the whole thing. I don't like the 2-tiered attitude, even when it comes to the fluff of Hollywood.
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

        Finding Neverland.

Very good movie. The boys in the film were absolutely fantastic. I can see why this was up against Aviator. Well worth the rent, and I think I will be purchasing it. I think Depp is a great actor that frequently suffers from poor scripts. This was a great script that let him shine.

Great Movie. This is one of the best flicks Ive seen lately. Phenomenal job casting and scoring. A must see.

Some people don't like Leonardo, but I don't think people give him enough credit. Films like "Whats Eating Gilbert Grape" and "The Aviator" are testaments...
