The Haunted Mansion not for the elderly

This was probably a good little flick for other youngsters, or young at hearts, but it didn't do a thing for this 67 year old kid. Eddie Murphy wasn't funny. The ghosts weren't scary. Dialogue was stilted and corny. The story was silly. Well what the heck did I expect from Walt Disney, anyway ?

Any redeeming features ? Yes, the PQ was gorgeous and the sound was pretty nice. But that's it.

I keep giving Eddie Murphy's latest flicks a try, hoping for just a touch of that great comedy flair of yore, but I keep getting nothing but disappointment. Well, nuf is enuff.

"saw" but didn't listen to this on the plane. Looked baaaaaad (I'm 42, so age - enjoyability age cutoff must be lower.

And I won't be buying as the Disney store (where I get a severe discount) is only carrying foolsccreen.

George - So your (I hope) rental of this turkey pretty well confirmed what we discussed earlier in April a good month for DVDs. Too bad -- Murphy used to be funny even in otherwise lame vehicles (and REALLY funny in the good ones). Now, if the overall project is a loser, seems he gets dragged down to the level of the material and can't make us laugh no matter what. I didn't see much to like in the trailer and now with the comments you and Brandon have posted here, this one is a definite "pass" for me.

I'd not seen anything in the trailers to encourage me to view this one. Glad to hear I wasn't mistaken. Eddie's career does seem to be in the toilet, doesn't it? Oh FWIW, I'm 45 so I guess the age-cutoff applies to me, too.

            Right on there, Bam.

Burke, no I didn't buy, thank heaven. I'm pretty much giving up on Mr. Murphy after this stinker.

              My kids loved it, but I haven't seen it ( they're 5 and 7 ).

They said to my wife 'hey, its the guy from Daddy day care, isn't he the voice of the donkey from shrek?' ( I think they're starting to catch on, they're growing up too fast ).

My kid picks out voice talent from cartoons all the time too (just turned 6).

The one he missed, Johnny Quest's dad was also scooby doo (original).

Well, I'm 42 so, I guess I missed it too! Eddie has really fallen downhill. Though I enjoyed "Daddy Daycare" and "The Adventures of Pluto Nash", my enjoyment had almost nothing to do with what Eddie brought to the screen.

IMO, this is another example of sticking to what you do best. Eddie has been trying to do the "clean" stuff...it is not what he's good at.
