    The 6th Day

I finally got around to watching this flick, (Arnold).

I'd heard rather much bad reviews from this film at one time, but that was after I picked it up. So, it sat on the shelf a good long time.

Well, I wasn't to disappointed. It was an ok flick set in the future with some pretty cool futuristic effects. Think along the lines of Tom Cruise's last big flick. I really enjoyed the aircraft that were in the film. Very futuristic flying machines that converted from chopper to jet and back to chopper.

Sound effects were at times very dynamic. I noticed about as full a use of surround at one point as I have heard. On my system, it was pretty cool. 8)

So, it was a fun ride, even if a corny film.

So, the film while a mere :2: stars. I'd rate the sound effects :4: of 5.

I guess I was one of the few to like this film. No thinking required just enjoy the ride.

The flying sequence as well as the opening football scene are demo quality for sure. And some decent oneliners.

I keep seenig this statement. Why would you guys watch a movie that is so boring you sit there and flick popcorn? And isn't it a pain to have to vacuum it up afterwards?

But it wasn't boring. Popcorn flicks to me are the kind of movies that don't always make a lot of sense storywise, or aren't too well acted, but are still entertaining. I've got hundreds of these in my collection.

Yup!. This movie was very entertaining. And that's what the phrase "popcorn flick" means. I doubt that any of us are throwing it....well, not a lot of it anyway!!!

I would hope that most of the movies (like George stated) are just that. I would hate to think that everytime I sat down to view a film, I had a bunch of thinking to do while viewing it to enjoy it. I do that enough in real life and the reason I'm viewing the film is to escape that, relax and have fun.

That's true, John. But I really have a mixed bag in my collection. There are some films, like Glengary Glen Ross, or A Beautiful Mind... these films make you think, and for many you have to be in the mood for that kind of thing. That's the great thing about collecting, you can choose something for every mood. Drama, comedy, action, etc.

Definately a mood thing. Popcorn, beer, tea or pizza it all comes down to what are you in the mood for. 6th Day is one of those movies that picks you up, makes you laugh, shake your head and just plain relax and take it in. However, some good thoughts was put into it, just plain 'ole fun.
