Movie Gallery Super Special on Previously Viewed DVD's

Yesterday I took our daughter Chelsea to Movie Gallery to rent her a PSII game for these few days she is out of school. When I walked in I noticed they had several racks of previously viewed DVD's for sale. The display read "BUY 2 GET 1 FREE" and most were marked at $9.99 each. The manager spoke up and stated that through October 5th the deal is "BUY 2 GET 2 FREE".

So for an average of 5 bucks each I picked up:

    Road to Perdition
    Bringing Down the House
    City by the Sea
Lord of the Rings: II Towers
(Which I'll probably buy the Director's Cut in November as well.)

When we got home I opened them up and they were all in very good condition.

A couple of these I kinda wanted but didn't want to pay the price to simply own them but at 5 bucks each it's a bargain. Not sure if Movie Gallery's are doing this special nationwide but it might be worth checking out. Some of you may already buy used DVD's on a regular basis.

BTW: The DVD's come with a lifetime warranty. According to the manager if at any time they do not work properly they can be swapped for the same title if available or any title if not available.

Great buy on some really good movies. Two on your list are "must have" (in that I already have them); :>) the other two are the kind I would pick up IF we had a "Movie Gallery" in Houston with that kind of sale going on.

Wow, nice catch Sonnie. Like Burke, I already have 2 of those and City By The Sea intrigues me. Bringing Down The House - well, that's a rental first (mainly for Queen Latifah).

Now, that lifetime guarantee is pretty impressive, too. :T

That's a great guarantee. Quite a few of my collection is starting to come from Rogers Video and Blockbusters from their previously viewed stock. They only offer a 14 day guarantee which is more than adequate. Anytime I've had a problem with a DVD, I've just exchanged it or received a refund. They normally start @ $19.99 and goes down gradually to $9.99 CDN. Often times they will have a special of buy 1 get the 2nd for half price. I myself normally wait until they're at $9.99. I've even seen them put out a big stock of DVD's without a cover (picture and features) @ $7.99 each. I would say that I've bought about 30-40 DVD's this way (previously viewed). These were movies I would rather not pay full retail for or those that I can wait a little longer for.

I pretty much do the same as Aeromos. Haven't had a problem disk yet.
