Nothing of interest to me. I have a pretty good copy of Ben Hur and Carlito on LD is plenty. The Thing ? Well I bought the dvd when it came out a year or so ago and it had a pretty good transfer.

Yeah, I've got the original Ben-Hur DVD, but this set has been re-issued to the correct 2.73:1 ratio and according to WSR the colors have been greatly improved. Also, the 1925 version of the film is included along with a bunch of other extras including a couple of good "making of" documentaries. I'm not much on extras generally, but these interest me.

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, is a bust but the DTS version is a treat.

Fred, I've got to agree that THGTTG was a bit of a bust, but it was still fun in an "English" sort of way. So the DTS is worthwhile?

THGTTG was pretty great I thought. I liked it. It was no bust. It was just offbeat.

There is also some arguments over the colors whether or not they are indeed accurate.

We both agree that the 4-Disc is the AR shown in 1959, correct? And the discrepancy is that the ratio is 2.76 not 2.73? Trying to clarify here.

The 4 disc 1959 version is the correct OAR of 2.76

I'm still not sure about the color though. The top picture is the 4 disc SE and the color looks "off" to me. Then again that could have been correct. What i do care about most is the correct OAR though and they fixed that.

Yep, me too.

Now, this is completely subjective, but the Arabian horses that I've seen don't have that reddish tint shown in the upper shot. They do look much more like the tones in the lower shot FWIW.
