    Daredevil

Just got the movie today and watched it. Awesome!! I loved the way they showed how DD is able to see with his super sensitive hearing. I won't spoil it for those of you who haven't seen it yet. Highly recommended for those of you who read the comic books. Only thing I thought was missing was that they didn't show how DD got his training with the clubs. I'll have to watch it again as I couldn't have the volume turned up properly as it was already late.

Also there was a cameo by an RSX-1065!!
    Nice ad for Rotel!!

Yeah this movie got good reviews during its theatrical release. I am not one of those comic book hero movie kinda guys, but I always liked the Keaton Batman films, Superman, and the first Blade. I'm going to rent Daredevil first, and buy it if I really like it.

Good to hear. I plan on buying this movie on DirecTV pay per view when it's offered. (hopefully on the high definition channel)

I saw this in the theater and enjoyed it but didn't like the way they ended it...I wish Jennifer Garner didn't die

              Andrew,

Actually if you recall in the end, DD finds the good luck charm similar to what Elektra was wearing but in brail. It raises questions whether she died or not. DD didn't really get to see her body after the scene when the police showed up on the rooftop where Elektra was lying there still. The way they ended things definitely keeps the doors open for a sequel.

Also you'll be happy to hear (if I'm correct - I read it somewhere) that they signed Jennifer to do an Elektra movie!!

I caught this one in the theater and considered it a fair film. But as Marvel Heros go....I still think Spiderman 2002 was a better film. WIDESCREEN REVIEW considers this DVD of Reference quality with emphasis on the DTS audio track. I amy have to pick up a copy just for that fact!

Darren: I assume you're saying that Daredevil is supposed to be a reference quality DVD? Or the great Spiderman? (I just watched this one again last night--love it)

That is correct in that WSR considers the DAREDEVIL DTS audio of reference quality.

Definitely a reference dvd for audio. They've utilized all channels well in this movie. I always choose DTS when available for audio. I find that it has better sound quality and makes that sound stage more expansive and powerful. When I watched the movie again at the volume level that I like to watch, I was really impressed with the sound.

One scene that was nice to show how well they utilized the channels, was when young Matt was in the hospital with bandages on. Each drop from the U/V line sent sound from the rear to the front with some good bass.

I too liked Spiderman better. But I still enjoyed and loved this movie. There are a few things I would change though that would make the movie more true to the comic book series. For example, although DD's costume looked nice in the movie it was more like Spiderman's tights in the comic books.

Watched my copy of DD last night. Very nicely done! And, yes the DTS soundtrack is fabulous - lot's of spatiality, excellent bass (deep and controlled) - it added immensely to the movie. Much more so than when I saw this film in the theater.

I like both Spider-Man and Dare Devil. I'm not sure which I enjoyed more, but DD is a bit darker (no pun intended) movie in overall story-line. And yes, IMO the charm with the Braille inscription indicates Electra is still alive - I hope.

Watched it last night. It's a cut above the average comic book hero film. And yes, very dark. Even gory at times. Don't let the little ones watch this.

I rented it and I don't think I will bother to add it to my collection . Like Spiderman, I just don't really feel I would want to watch this one again, even though Jennifer is one gorgeous creature.

I also watch DD last night. I liked it better than spiderman. I was listening to the audio comentary and I think they said Electra isn't dead and their should be in the sequel.

Don't let the little ones watch this
George, my 11 year old watched it with me tonight and loved it so much that she's offered to take piano lessons (finally) if my wife watches it with her tomorrow, but, then again, she is my daughter.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Spiderman, so I do prefer this comic book turned movie better. I'm sure hoping you're all correct about you know who.

I did enjoy the quality of the DTS, but also loved the contrast between the dark scenes and the daytime street scenes, which only served make you more aware of how dark those dark scenes really were.

The only point I'd make that I didn't read above is that they did an excellent job of writing the evil characters.

Saw this last night....not bad not bad at all. I think the movie was unfairly maligned. Michael Clark Duncan, as big as he is, was still not quite big enough to be Kingpin. Farrell's Bullseye was entertaining, reminded me a lot of Nicholson's Joker...over the top, but in a fun way.
Affleck was good as DD. He could play Murdock again and that would be fine by me.
I wasn't digging Jennifer Garner's contacts because they were a little annoying but she played her part well.

And the sound in this movie is fantastic...the surrounds are very aggressive :T:T:T

Y'all stuck around to through the end credits to see Bullseye's fate didn't you?

Thanks for the tip guys. I watched and enjoyed, then had my two daughters come in to do the same.

LOL George, you know as well as I that the credits sometimes seem longer than the film these days. Remember when all there was at the films end was, THE END

I had middling expectations for this movie, but I found it quite entertaining actually. Some of the character's powers were exaggerated a bit too much, but it was a fun action flick and I liked everyone's performance.I'd say that it's pretty clear that Elektra doesn't actually die, much like the Phoenix X-Men character doesn't actually die. But it will take a sequel to see for sure.

I also liked Spiderman better, but I'll probably buy Daredevil on DVD if I can find it somewhere on sale.

You are so right. But whenever I watch something older from my collection and the movie ends with a big THE END, I find myself sitting in shock for a few minutes

Thanks for the tip. I kind of figured he'd have to have survived that fall. I'll have to go back and check out his fate after the credits. The only movies I normally sit through the credits are the ones I know have the blooper reels.

I agree that Kingpin was probably portrayed by the best person in hollywood, but as big as he is, he doesn't come close to the size of Kingpin. Also The Kingpin was caucasian (I think that's spelled right-lol).

Well, I finally bought this on Pay Per View tonight. I liked the movie. It had a VERY good plot storyline, but I thought it was presented a little over the top. A few things here and there just made me roll my eyes. But all in all, not too bad. Good sound on the movie, and great music. I don't think Jennifer dies, based on the Braille charm that he finds. I don't know if I'll be adding this one to my collection or not. Probably not anytime soon.

Since I know nothing of the comic book character, I'll ask--what was with the coffin bathtub? My wife and I couldn't figure out what was going on there.

The tub was to isolate DD from all the sounds of the city. As far as the "over the top" stuff, I just figure it's a comic-book hero film - that's all part of it.

I liked DD, but that tub I couldn't believe. I thought water amplifies sound. That tub is connected to the floor so DD might hear everything in the building. Lay in a tub of water for more than an hour or so. All I can think is CAPTAIN WRINKLE!
