    Passengers

Do not say I did not tell you.

Wasted some time this weekend when The Wife & I rented Passengers via our Verizon Fios cable for $5.99.

Who the hell would give this Hollywood cookie-cutter, intent on extrapolating $ from the pockets of movie-goers based solely on Jen Laurence’s BO appeal, a favorable review?
Cheesy, predictable, & accompanied by a miserable script.
Crikey! The best acting in the movie comes from the android bartender.

One thing is for sure..........having just last year for the first (& V LAST) time, experienced the world of over-priced, incompetently managed, ocean cruise liners.........they got that part exactly right!

Sorry consolation for a POS movie, however.

So tell us, what do you really think of this movie?:W

The answer to your question of "who would give this a favourable review?" is, as it happens, "very few people" (judging from the 31% rating on Rotten Tomatoes). Surprisingly disappointing effort from the director of The Imitation Game--an excellent film. Oh well, no director has a perfect record.

I watched this one a couple of weeks ago. It's more of a love story set in space than a sci-fi movie, but I thought that the sci-fi bits were worthy. The film posed some interesting questions too - for example, was our main character woken up deliberately by the ship's computer because he was good at fixing things? I agree that Michael Sheen did a good job as Arthur the android barman. Overall I thought Rotten Tomatoes treated it rather harshly and believe that IMDb's rating of 7.0 was more accurate.

Michael Sheen is one of the best actors, both in film & on stage, of his generation.
sadly, he is hardly recognized in the US.

I liked it...my expectations were low and I was pleasantly surprised. I've seen a lot worse...

I can't be bothered by watching these types of films anymore.

When I saw this film in 1984 in the theater, I felt it was the greatest baseball movie ever made, and after watching the newly released director's cut on standard dvd, my opinion hasn't changed.

There's probably few here who are not aware of this film, but basically it's about a talented...

It is interesting to see technology grow and change. To watch as new products come out. I'd like to propose that we use this thread to play marketing director of Classe. If you were the marketing director of Classe, what products do you think would make the most sense to roadmap over the next 5 years....

Folks, our friend Paul Wu has just been to busy to really keep up with DVD Director on any sort of regular basis. So, while Paul retains moderator status, it was time to move ahead and get someone in here to contribute more regularly.

I thought of Dean McManis, a long time DVD proponent,...

Having seen Pitch Black just this year I was intrigued by the sequel(I'm hearing that 2 more are wanting to be made now..) also having missed this at the theater and liking this type of movie I knew I'd buy it. My expectations were rather low going in due to a piss poor showing at the box office plus...

                DareDevil - Director's Cut
                by Adz
The original DareDevil DVD is definitely in the Top 10 (at least mine) for reference quality sonic performance. In this new Director's Cut, it wasn't supposed to have changed (i.e.,improved) much. Not sure who wrote that, but Holy DTS(hit) Batman, this new soundtrack has even more insane bass and...
