    Fury

The other film I caught up with yesterday was radically different from Ex Machina. Fury is, more than anything, a smaller scale version of Das Boot, only in a tank. My subwoofers got a workout (house was empty, so I took it a lot closer to "reference level" than I usually do). I might have appreciated a bit more character development among some of the crew, but in terms of recreating the tone and environment of close quarters tank battles in WWII, it is impressive.

Not without substance. In many ways an intimate film. Just thought there was room for a touch more character development for a couple of the tank crew. A small issue.

Must be getting addled-brained. Forgot I'd posted there as well (did same with Ex Machina).

                Ex Machina
                by Ovation
Had a bit of a break yesterday and caught up with two films on my shelf. Ex Machina was a very interesting, minimalist sci-fi of a kind I quite enjoy. In some ways (tonally more than anything) it reminded me of a similar minimalist sci-fi called Never Let Me Go. (Same screenwriter so not surprising)...

First of all, I used to like to indulge in some adult beverages and marathon Ping Pong sessions in the garage with friends. Second of all the Def Leppard (who I like and have a few Cd’s of) tie-in was really fun bonus. ;x(

Now this is my kind of comedy, I thought this movie was great...

                Fury

I am surprised how this film went quiet into the night.

I was totally blindsided by the depth, morality & accuracy of this movie.
It met if not surpassed the impact that 'Saving Private Ryan' has.

                Each character is exquisitely developed.
