    Ex Machina

Had a bit of a break yesterday and caught up with two films on my shelf. Ex Machina was a very interesting, minimalist sci-fi of a kind I quite enjoy. In some ways (tonally more than anything) it reminded me of a similar minimalist sci-fi called Never Let Me Go. (Same screenwriter so not surprising)

A quiet, reflective film that poses interesting philosophical questions.

Big discussion on the film and the BD disc here: http://www.htguide.com/forum/showthr...hlight=machina

Milestone disc for HT. But so-so movie, IMHO.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I forgot I'd posted in that thread. What elevated it for me above so-so were the performances. And in the past couple of years I find performance increasingly important--more than how tightly plotted or visually stunning a movie might be.

        Minimalist Design advantage
        by gfcf42489
When I see pics of Rotel components under the hood, like their preamps and CD players, they always seem quite bare in comparison with similar offerings from Marantz, NAD, etc. I suspect this has to do with their "minimalist design" philosophy. I think Classe has this same approach in regards...

        Minimalist enclosure for TB W4-1337
        by impala454
Hey y'all, long time no see. I've been futzing around with no surround sound speakers for a while and finally just decided I want to throw something together real quick with some Tang Band W4-1337 drivers I have. Since they're full range, I could technically just mount them in a box and be done correct?...

Eureka - There Will Be A Season 2
        by David Meek
For any of the fans on this forum of the Sci Fi Channel's series Eureka, it has been picked up for a full second season starting in July of 2007. Yeah! I'd gotten a bit twitchy about not having seen anything on it and hopped over to the Sci Fi Channel web-site to check it out. I really enjoy the...
