    A Late Quartet

Watched this on the weekend. As you'd expect from the cast involved (huge PSH and Walken fan) the performances were powerful, engaging and supremely well acted. The story is well written and paced and the music (both content and mix) were as excellent as you'd expect given the subject matter (though I did occasionally find dialogue a bit low mixed).

    Excellent movie, 8.5/10 IMO.

Been dying to see this one, too.
    I worship anything with Walken.
Doubt I will find this one in the RedBox, may have to make a special trip to the brick&mortar shop.
Glad to hear a good report on it!

The only "flaw" in it IMO was that I think given the subject matter and the acting talent available...it could have actually been a bit grittier/darker, more dramatic and more "uncomfortable". I would probably have put it more in the 9-9.5 territory if it was. It lacks that "something" to push it from "very good" to "great".

Oh and you'll love Walken's understated performance. His reaction to his diagnosis is brilliant!

We found it on RedBox. Highly enjoyable and involving. Much better than the more popular and frivilous "Quartet" and as interesting as the "Basileus Quartet." All deal with aging musicians.

When The Wife & I watched 'Quartet', we found it agreeable relative to most the typical drivel produced today.
A few spurts of clever dialogue & Maggie Smith is always enjoyable.

            Thanks for the tip, Kal.
I will keep track of the inventory at our local Redbox & put "Basileus Quartet" on our 'Must See' list.

I did enjoy "Quartet" but it was a bit facile. The others are more substantial.

I'm really looking forward to watching this one. I agree with the criticisms of "Quartet", which I thought was fun but lightweight.

Reminded me of the typical & well done BBC TV series comedies similar to "Waiting for God".
