    BLACK ROBE

Let me start by saying I have only seen this movie once, about 7 or 8 years ago...it has stuck with me ever since.
Today I saw it for the second time. I will not wait so long to see it again.
It's the story of white religion in the form of a French missionary, and his belief, his grief, and his humanity.
At the same time it's an honest look at a different belief system, through a different people, and a different humanity.
We come to understand a little of the human nature, and the spiritual, of the northern tribes in Canada, mostly the Algonquin.
The cinematography is outstanding, the acting never faulters, and is aways realistic.
I put this squarely in the same class as Last of the Mohicans...maybe better.
I'd love to see someone like Criterion get ahold of this title...not that this transfer is bad, it's quit watchable, but it does get alittle soft at times, and a few times fleshtones were not as I thought they should have been. Taken as a whole the transfer is good.
The soundtrack is servicable, dialog is clear throughout, and the "stereo surround" is there when needed, but nothing else...as it should be with a story of this calibre.

It came out in 91, and the ownly name I recognize is the director Bruce Beresford.
The stars include names like: Lothaire Bluteau, August Schellenberg, Aden Young...
Like I said I didn't recognize the nam, but they are all excellent, don't miss this!

This transfer will knock your socks off
          by George Bellefontaine
It's a French film entitled Brotherhood Of The Wolf. It's a very long film( 2 1/2 hours) and it dragged at times, but it didn't matter to me, I was just too busy soaking up this gorgeous transfer. IMO, this transfer is even better than the Fifth Element Superbit. The colors, the deep contrast and the...

Please help me to understand the transfer function of a bi-pole. (not dipole)

Please help me to understand the transfer function of a bi-pole.

In the past I have used the baffle simulator in Jeff B's Response Modeler 2.1 to visualize the transfer function of a dipole based on the the total path length (x dimension) from driver to driver.

          I imagine...

          Frenzy's transfer
          by George Bellefontaine
I love this Hitchcock movie and hadn't seen it in years so I gobbled it up as soon as it became available on DVD. Watched it last night and was a little disappointed in the transfer.Unlike Vertigo, which was obviously restored, Frenzy had some dirst spots and marks that were obvious at times. I also...

the Shining, and it's shiny new transfer!
          by KennyG
Sunday I decided to have a double Jack...no not a double shot of Jack Daniels, a double shot of Jack Nicholson.
First up was the excellent "the Pledge", then come intermission at the beach for a nice long walk with my sweetie, then of coarse..."the Shining".
          I consider...

Help with transfer PC digital library to Mac OS

          Greetings all.

          Background.

I have spent the past several years ripping a large CD collection to create a my own digital library. It was a very simple approach in Windows Media Player, ripping everything as high quality mp3s. When that had trouble identifying albums,...
