This transfer will knock your socks off

It's a French film entitled Brotherhood Of The Wolf. It's a very long film( 2 1/2 hours) and it dragged at times, but it didn't matter to me, I was just too busy soaking up this gorgeous transfer. IMO, this transfer is even better than the Fifth Element Superbit. The colors, the deep contrast and the super detail made this look like High Definition.

Briefly, the plot concerns a beast that is killing the citizens of a French village. The King sends two dudes to find and destory the beast. Well there is more to this than just a killer beast, but I won't spoil it in case any of you decide to see this.

Along with the startlingly good transfer, there is plenty of action ( martail arts style) a love story that slows the pace somewhat, and a sound track that will test your system's limits. I rented this, and though I don't know if I'd want to sit through the story all over again, it would be nice to have as a reference disc so I will be looking for it .

It is a stunningly good image, isn't it? It's not a bad flick either. Just be aware that it is a European film and their techniques in storytelling do differ a bit from Americans'. BOTW is well worth a rental.

I've heard good things about this from a few folks; with your confirmations, I'll have to place it on my list, since I actually LIKE the way Europeans tell stories in movies (at least sometimes! ) :W

Just a few quick words about these two.
I watched CK last night, and let me say the transfer is stunning! This could easily have been a Criterion job!
While I don't think this is the best movie ever made, it is a good one...in fact, I don't think it's even the best Orson Welles movie (I...

Well I drove up to the Swiss border and picked up my Krell FPB400CX and what a thrill !! and back breaking 125 lbs.

I spent the day rewiring. The most complicated was changing the Swiss plug to French which took over an hour. The Power cable on that sucker is like an 1 1/2 inches thick....

Please help me to understand the transfer function of a bi-pole.

In the past I have used the baffle simulator in Jeff B's Response Modeler 2.1 to visualize the transfer function of a dipole based on the the total path length (x dimension) from driver to driver.

          I imagine...

Our dedicated (:B sorry Lex) HT room's entry is a 94" high x 63" wide opening on it's left side. I've managed to balance the soundstage in spite of this big hole, but have been wanting to put something there to stop noise coming in and movie sountracks and music going out.

          Well,...

          French Music from 30's/40's
          by Nick M
Anyone have any recommendations for French music from this era? I know nothing about it, just the occassional song I hear from WWII films and the odd B&W film I see. It's homey, romantic, nostalgic, and haunting at the same time. I'd like to pick up some CDs but need some info of where to start....
