    Nasty Banter!

Interested in a movie with great wit, charm, and alot of nasty banter thrown about by a family that loves to hate each other???
Go get "the Lion in Winter".
It's been years since I've seen this wonderful movie, all I could remember was King Henry and his highly dysfunctional family.
    Boy had I forgotten alot!!!
The charm and wit of this movie is incredible, Katharine Hepburn and Peter O'toole are perfect...their eye just light up as they throw one nasty barb after another.
The Transfer is good, very few artifacts, colors are undersaturated at times, but overall look good, the image is sharp without edge enhancement, shadow detail is good.(it's a dark movie)
the sound is nothing special, it's clear and clean, that's all I can say for it.
This is a classic in my book, worth at least a rental...but if you enjoy a good script about dysfunction...this is it!

An interesting recommendation, Kenny! Thanks for bringing a lot of "off the beaten path" recommendations to the forum.

I've got to pick something to watch tonight, after/during packing for my business trip that I leave on tomorrow- out of the country. This will be the first movie I've had time to watch at home in over three weeks- that's pretty disgusting.
I think it's going to be "Proof of Life"- unless I get into a strange mood and go for something different, more escapist, perhaps!

    Have a great weekend.

Hi Susan, no doubt Mr Hopkins was already showing what makes him one of the best in his craft.

A very nasty movie about two nasty young men who terrorize well-to-do folk in their charming summer cottages. Stars Tim Roth, Naomi Watts and Devon Gearhart ( the young son ) as the vacationing victims of psychos Brady Corbet and Michael Pitt. This was originally a controversial Austrian film by director...

Getting rid of a nasty buzz
            by bigburner
A nasty buzz recently developed in my system. It started after some rewiring to accommodate a new external DAC. The buzz increased as the system warmed up. After an hour I could just hear the buzz from my listening position with the volume turned down to zero. As you will appreciate this was a totally...

Movie versions of books (or vice versa)
            by Chris D
This may be a good discussion. The topic is popular books that have been made into movies. By and large, my personal opinion is that movie renditions of good books fall far short for a few reasons. First, I think due to the media of print, books allow for a much more thorough immersion of the reader...

            America's Sweethearts- whose movie?
            by JonMarsh
I saw this movie this weekend. I've seen a few different reviews by people, some not all that hot (B-, C+) discussing this as "the new Julia Roberts Movie". And then they complain about how small a role Julia Roberts had in this movie.

Reality reset time, folks. Julia Roberts...

            finding an old movie
            by goe2112
            Hello all,
Just wanted to know if there is a good website that helps people find out the title of an old movie without knowing the title.

Just in case your curious, I'm searching for an older B sci-fi movie. All I remember about this movie is the ending, it takes place on a space...
