    Mississippi Burning

The power of this movie is undeniable, and it had been quite awhile since I'd seen it. So with great anticipation I popped it in the htpc last night...WOW! I never remembered it quite like this, very moving, excellent acting, and sadly true.
The transfer is another MGM, it is enhanced, and is fairly sharp, it's not as good as some of the other 1980's movies, but it is better than their non-enhanced LD retreads! The colors for the most part are good, a couple times facial tones had a red push to them, but that was scene specific.
The sound is dolby 2.0 surround, nothing special, but it works, and the dialog is clean.
    Highly recommended!

Yeah, this is a very powerful movie. Glad to hear MGM did it right. I'll be looking for this one.

      MGM...wake up
      by KennyG
That's it, I've bought my last classic MGM title.

It's about many things...a snake of a man who do anything to survive, he has no respect for himself or anyone else. It's about a woman who truly...

      Has Sony Bought Mgm ?
      by George Bellefontaine
There was a piece on CNN Money regarding this. It said that Sony and partners had reached an agreement with MGM regarding the purchase. The figure touted was $5B. Just hope if they bring some unreleased titles to dvd that they do a better job on transfers than MGM has done.

      MGM's recent batch of Westerns
      by George Bellefontaine
The titles I'm referring to are The Big Country, Vera Cruz, The Hallelujah Trail, etc. The latter was the first one I played and much to my dismay, it turned out to be nonanamorphic. Yukkk. Good ol' MGM inconsistency.
