Announcing the 2015 Burning Amp International Loudspeaker Crossover Design Contest!

Your goal is to design a passive or active crossover for a 2-way mini-monitor using any freeware design software. The winning design will be awarded the drivers and cabinet for the project - design the best crossover and win the parts to build the system!

Even if you don't plan to attend Burning Amp this year you can still enter to win. Just pair up with someone who will attend Burning Amp and submit an entry as a team! You can prove yourself as a crossover WORLD CHAMPION designer!


The deadline for submission of entries is 9pm Pacific Time on Oct 9, 2015.

Funny you should say that. I am pretty sure that I can attend, but I have almost no time for speaker design. I would be happy to present your design. (Our paths cross again.)

Below is a clarification of the contest rules:

• There is NO REQUIREMENT to be present at Burning Amp. You can still submit an entry (and win or place) if you don't attend.
• You can NOT collect the prizes if you or someone from your team does not attend Burning Amp.

If you are willing to forfeit the prizes and want to submit an entry just for the fun of it, you are more than welcome to do so!

There has been an update to the woofer impedance data file. Please download the zip file again to get the revised version.

During processing some "negative" signs somehow became separated from their numbers, e.g. "- 1.2345" instead of "-1.2345". This happened for the data between about 70Hz and 210Hz in the woofer file only.

I posted another updated data set, with "update-2" as part of the file name. Please try that and let me know if there are any import problems.

Didn't get to go, had to cancel about 2 weeks before hand. I was one of the judges in the contest, which was sort of interesting....

I wish I'd been able to have made it, but other things came up that had to take precedence. Now I'm just catching up on things.... such as this post! :W
