    Star Trek 2009 blu-ray

I picked this up last night and was suprised to find that this is not out in the USA for a few weeks yet which has caused a lot of the local guys to cancel amazon pre-orders.

I could not fault the blu-ray looks great ,sounds great with a excellent LFE .
Huge amount of extras and a digital copy with the Aussie 3 disc release.

Not ever having been a Star Trek fan still found the film very enjoyable.
Currently working my way through the extras disc which is very informative for a neophyte to the star trek universe.

    :T

    Cheers Brendon

I'm looking forward to adding this to my collection. Long time fan (since 1973) and I thoroughly enjoyed it at the cinema.

This is one of the few "gotta have it on Blu-ray or else" titles around AFAIC. Yeah, baby! :dancenana:

I've got it on my Netflix list. I'll watch it there first.

Now, I got REALLY interested in Rachel Nichols recently when I watched "G.I. Joe". She played the role of Scarlet. On her IMDB page, it says that she's also in Star Trek, so I'll be curious to see her there. I would imagine it's a smaller role. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0629697/ She's quite the hottie.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I really enjoyed this movie and I am a quasi-Trekkie from the old school. It reminds me of Daniel Craig as 007 in Casino Royale, it provides an "Extra Edge perspective" relative to the orginal.

I will add this to my Blu-Ray collection.

                    Peace and blessings,

                    Azeke

Yes, this movie was a spectacular transfer, one of the few that I'd call "flawless" in just about every way. Great movie, fantastic PQ and SQ. I am also not a Trekkie fan, but thoroughly enjoyed this movie from start to finish. The director/casting crew did a great job by putting together a great cast that made it more exciting. I was a bit confused by the younger casts, were they supposed to be the younger William Shatner? Or an entire different generation of Star Fleet crew?
A little bit off topic, but "taking of Pelham 123" that came out the same time is another flawless transfer as well, but the movie content was a bit disappointing for me. Good to see that some studios are finally showing what BluRay is truly capable of.

The younger actors are playing the same characters, not new ones (there is some debate over that, but would involve complex trekkie-land minutiae--for all practical purposes, they are new actors in the same roles as Shatner, Nimoy et. al).

Heehee, Jen picked up one of the 3-disc blu-ray sets for me today while running errands on the mainland. Tomorrow night's going to be homemade pizza 'n movie night! :dancenana:

Watched it for the 3rd time last night. Seems to get better each time . Even listened to the extra commentary (seldom watch those). Enjoyed it, though it was quite long (commentary).

                              You will enjoy it.

Good to know! I picked it up yesterday and did see it in theaters, but have yet to find time to slap it in. Kinda surprised they didn't do 7.1 for this, though.

The only Star Trek movies I own are those with the original Kirk and Spock characters. I never could get interested in the others. But this one, since it is the beginning, sounds quite interesting, and the trailer certianly made it look damn good on Blu-ray, so I just may go for it.

                                      Hi George

I picked this up and can tell you it's a great movie in most all respects.
If i were to try and find fault it would be maybe with Eric Bana playing the bad guy.Didn't quite convince me he was all that bad.And the inside of the baddie ship was to me was really only used as a tool to distract the viewer ,the real Goal of the movie tells how it all began. And which is where this movie shines.
A Man should never Gamble more than he can stand to loose.

Jen and I both really enjoyed the Blu-Ray. Picture and sound are just what you'd expect from a top-flight BD - fantastic. The movie itself is fun, fun, fun with energy and enthusiasm that seems to me to have been less evident from the last 'Trek-based offerings. Occasionally Hollywood gets it right and fortunately for us, this is one of those times. :5:

I downloaded it in 1080p, but I won't be able to watch it until after the holiday break - unless I go out and get the bluray which is more than likely. I've never been a trecky but I'm really looking forward to it.
