The film is directed by Kevin Macdonald ( he directed The Last King Of Scotland ) and stars Russel Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren and Robin Penn Wright. Crowe and McAdams are investigative journalists for a large Washington daily newspaper. Affleck ( a close friend of Crowe ) is a congressman investigating possible corruption involving the government and a huge, powerful corporation. get's Crowe and McAdams involved to the point where Crowe's friendship and his ability to sniff out and expose the truth are put to the test. Helen Mirren ( looking gorgeous for her age ) is the tough editor who has to make a tough decision whether or not to go with Crowe's instincts when everything seems to be unravelling. Robin Penn Wright portrays Affleck's victimized wife.
It's a terrific thriller with top notch acting and direction. Highly recommended as either a rental or a purchase. I went with the latter and don't regert it for a minute :T
