    STATE OF PLAY tense thriller

The film is directed by Kevin Macdonald ( he directed The Last King Of Scotland ) and stars Russel Crowe, Ben Affleck, Rachel McAdams, Helen Mirren and Robin Penn Wright. Crowe and McAdams are investigative journalists for a large Washington daily newspaper. Affleck ( a close friend of Crowe ) is a congressman investigating possible corruption involving the government and a huge, powerful corporation. An earlier, seemingly unrelated death, and the death of Affleck's mistress
get's Crowe and McAdams involved to the point where Crowe's friendship and his ability to sniff out and expose the truth are put to the test. Helen Mirren ( looking gorgeous for her age ) is the tough editor who has to make a tough decision whether or not to go with Crowe's instincts when everything seems to be unravelling. Robin Penn Wright portrays Affleck's victimized wife.

It's a terrific thriller with top notch acting and direction. Highly recommended as either a rental or a purchase. I went with the latter and don't regert it for a minute :T

When you say " ...Affleck ( a close friend of Crowe )..." are you referring to the characters they play in this movie, or a friendship in "real life" (which perhaps is how they got into this movie together)?

What you DON'T say may be held against you...

This movie is based on an English miniseries with several superb performances. Well worth seeking out on DVD.

...he gets little screen time. Aussie director, John Polson must have leaned on fellow Aussie, Russell Crowe, to help him get this film released. It's not a bad film, but suffers from lack of screen time for its leading man and a weak script. Instead we see a lot of Jon Foster, a young serial killer,...

                A GOOD YEAR

Some may call it a romantic comedy but the romance is really secondary to the story of a highly successful London stock trader ( Russell Crowe) who changes from A-hole to a decent sort. This happens after he must return to the South of France ( winemaking country) to settle...

I have no clue as to how an album or cd gets re-mastered but, they did one helluva job with these two. I am impressed with how much more they can squeeze out of redbook cd's with each passing year.
