Walked into Target today and they had a big sale on movies. Bought Gran Torino and Defiance on DVD for $10 each. I think that is a great price on movies that were just released on disc. I do own both Blu-ray and DVD players, but sometimes I'll still buy DVDs if the price is unbeatable. Generally though if a movie is a big special effects hit, I'll wait for the Blu-ray to be on sale somewhere because of the picture and sound quality over DVD. :T

I'll buy the occasional dvd--usually old classics that aren't available on Blu-ray. Around here you can find plenty of $5 dvds and many are recent releases.- Bottom

I still buy SD DVDs for anything I might use in the classroom or anything that, to me, seems unlikely to get a BD release anytime soon (a lot of old classics--Casablanca looks fabulous in hi-def, but I don't think a complete Bogart BD set will be out anytime soon, for example).- Bottom

I got quitre a few of the B&W Bogart titles such as Key Largo, Casablanca, High Sierra, Treasure Of Sierra Madre, To Have And To Have Not, The Big Sleep, The Maltese Falcon, just to name a few. And frankly, after seeing the odd B&W film on Blu-ray, I am more than satisfied with a good standard dvd transfer and probably won't bother to replace the titles I mentioned above.Originally posted by OvationWe can. But while we're doing that, I'll be watching my boxed set of Bogart movies.- Bottom

by AdzNot sure if this was posted anywhere but last week BestBuy put all its Superbit DVDs on sale for (USD) $10. All of them. by Dean McManisI'm not exactly sure what our formal rules are on promotions, but this was a deal that I spotted, and I'm not sure how long it will last.
Amazon is now having a 2 for one sale on a small selection of HD-DVDs.
Generally I haven't been buying a lot of new HD-DVDs at $20-$30 each... - Loading...
