    Walker Payne, another little gem

Walker Payne, portrayed by Jason Patric, lives in a small Illinois coal town. The only thing he wants in life is his two daughters back from his hateful ex who is willing to let him have them for $5000, but he loses his job at the coal mine and, because he is on parole, he cannot leave the town, so there is little chance of him coming up with the 5Gs. But, along with his two daughters, he has something else in his life he loves, a pit bull terrier. Enter Sam Shepard, a low life gambler, who shows Walker the way to get his children back. But is it the right way, and is it worth the price ?

The film is downbeat but the happenings are real and believable and Jason Patric and Sam Shepard really bring the story to life. Worth the rental to watch these two working together. :T

We started talking about this in another thread, but since there's interest, here's a dedicated one. I'm not a big video game player, but here's a movie based on a video game that I do actually want to see. Max Payne was a very dark, film noir computer game released in 2001. Right after "The...

Well, now that I'm on Xmas break and have a little time to catch up on things, I installed Max Payne (birthday present earlier this year) on my desktop (the gaming rig is apart for upgrades). It's not the ideal system for a game like this- LCD panel display at 1280X1024, just an ATI Radeon VE video...
