    Fracture worth a watch

Anthony Hopkins is a wealthy engineer who discovers his beautiful young wife is having an affair with a handsome young detective. In a cold, calculating manner, Hopkins sets out to commit the perfect murder of his wife.

Enter Ryan Gosling, a young, perhaps even cocky, successful prosecuting attorney. He has the chance to move into private practice with a big firm, but the challenge of bringing Hopkins to justice causes himto risk his future ambitions.

Fantastic acting by Hopkins, who brings a little Hannibal Lecter to his role. And Gosling as the cool, overly confident prosecutor, held himself very well against the old pro.

It was directed by Gregory Hoblit, who must have felt the ghost of Alfred Hitchcock standing behind him. This is a taut thriller, and though it sags a little at times, I found myself hanging onto every word in every scene.

    A big :T

            Hannibal Rising had its moments...
            by George Bellefontaine
... but in the end, I felt it was like one overlylong flashback. Glad I only rented it. And sheesh, I sure they could have found an actor that looked more like a young Anthony Hopkins. This young Hannibal Lecter was downright ugly.

OUT OF TIME a good thriller.
