    The Number 23

Jim Carrey is all messed up. So what's new ?

Anyway, this is an outright mess that totally lacks credidibility. They called it a thriller, but I wasn't thrilled. Unless you are a hardcore Jim Carrey fan, best to save your time and money.

Usually I agree with you, however I am going to have to disagree this time.

I am a firm believer that Jim Carrey is a comedy man, have always thought this since back of the days of Fire Marshal Bill on In Living Color. So, I was expecting a major disappointment when my girlfriend dragged me to see this film. But, I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a 'thriller', but it does have many good plot twists and a ending that I didn't guess was coming...

I actually like it when others disagree with me. Anything I post here is strictly my opinion. I agree that Carrey is best at comedy and I loved him in the comedy series you mentioned, which is where he really got his start. But he can be good at drama, too. Did you see Man On The Moon, where he was brilliant as the real life Andy Kaufman ? But I don't blame Carry for the mess( IMHO ) I feel The Number 23 is. I blame it on the writer and director.

What about Eternal sunshine of a spotless mind....I really enjoyed that one. I've put 23 in my Netflix queue.

I don't see many great new releases except 300.I've started watching older movies.

Eternal Sunshine I thought was very good...

Anyway, if we all liked the same movies there wouldn't be any fun in talking about them...

You could just say... "movie x was good"... :T

I mean, if you want us to buy the guy as a dramatic character, why all the smirking one-liners? Do we need comic relief every couple minutes (as if they really believed they'd built up any sort of "tension" to relieve in the first place)?

George, I agree with you. This movie was a total mess. Long, boring and painful to watch.

Pulled another classic off the shelf last night. Hitchcock's only "straight comedy" (no murder, no mayhem), this stars the woman who defined "screwball comedienne"--Carole Lombard. Also starring Robert Montgomery, the story, style and comical moments are straight from the late 30s/early...

I have no clue as to how an album or cd gets re-mastered but, they did one helluva job with these two. I am impressed with how much more they can squeeze out of redbook cd's with each passing year.

This release of Thriller best any prior release on any format (though I've not heard the...
