    Mind Hunters...hmm

Obviously I am having a hard time finding something worthwhile to rent these days. Mind Hunters is another one of those stupidly plotted ( plotted ? ) films of late. Appareently this one had a short run in the theaters and no wonder. It stars Christian Slater, Val Kilmer and Kathryn Morris of tv's Cold Case series. The two main stars are only in the first 30 minutes or so and I wonder why Kilmer and Slater even bothered to be associated with this turd.

Basically the plot involves a group of potential FBI profilers sent to an island to be tested, but one by one the would-be profilers are knocked off. Blah, blah, blah.

Thisn is directed by Renny Harlin and nothing much he's touched of late has been worth watching, Mind Hunters included. PQ is just so so, and although the audio is okay during action sequences, nothing can really save this mess. Don't waste your time or money.

    :1: for the audio.

George, that shows just how much taste can vary, I found this moving very engrossing, and enjoyed viewing it, along with some of my family. I was actually thinking about purchasing it (when it goes on sale of course). Boy speaking of diverse taste in movie viewing. I'll be interested to see what others think.

Nicholas, where are you? Help us out here, LOL.

    2 1/2 out of 5.

Azeke, I don't mind a mindless flick now and then, it just seems lately I've been renting one too many. And Nick may like this. I didn't care for Skeleton Key but he thought it was just great. As you said, just goes to show much tastes can vary. I don't mean to turn someone away who might like a certain film. These little reviews I do are strictly my opinion only.

I think the movie isn't that great, but I can tell you first hand how parts of it where shot. A few years back I was facility manager for a police academy in The Netherlands. There we had a large training facility with among others an "abandonded village" where a big part of this flick was shot. That was fun to observe but on the other hand a great hassle. :T

Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Deltoro star in this simply plotted flick. Tommy Lee's character trained men to kill for Special Forces, and he trained Benicio a little too well. Benicio loses it after a succession of assignments and starts killing people in the homeland. The beginning shows him dissing...

On a slightly different tack, I just saw this at our local IMAX. It features surfing by Kelly Slater, but also contains a good bit of educational material on geography, oceanography, Hawaiian surfing history, and the Polynesian culture. The picture was fantastic, and there were times when it appeared...

I was in Best Buy rooting around and came across this DVD again. I picked it up primarily because I like Val Kilmer and David Mamet and figured that they could make a pretty good movie together. The premise is that Kilmer (who has put on a few pounds) is a veteran Secret Service agent....
