Well folks, this is officially the worst movie I've seen so far this year.

Monday night movie acting quality, poor story, occassional rip-off Matrix/Kill Bill effects, overall poor cinematography.

If you liked Alien Vs Predator you will most definetly love this one... :roll:

Guys I have done some pretty bad things in my life, none of which I am willing to share on an open forum but take my word for it. Purchasing Alone in he Dark at $19.99 ranks on the top 4 or 5 things of bad things I have done in the past 10 years or better. This movie is so pathetic in every way that I am having a hard time describing how bad this movie is. This movie is a disgrace to horror, low budget, sci fi and any other genre or category you want to claim.

I really want to think Christian Slater is cool, but his presence in this movie shows just how desperate he was for work.

One of this things that drove me to purchasing this piece of crap was that it offers 6.1 DTS EX and I thought well if nothing else it will sound good. Guys take my word for it boycot this movie, the sound effects arent that great and certainly not even worth a rental.

This is by far the poorest 19.99 and 96 minutes of my HT life, scratch that, of my movie going life. This movie is 25 times worse than Adaptation because at least with Adaptation I only paid 10 bucs as it was used (still got ripped off).

I almost never give criticle reviews because I am just too darn easy to please with movies, but this movie SUCKED.

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS MOVIE THERE IS NOTHING TO SEE.

Your miles wont vary, you will think it sucked so save your money and spend it on your girlfriend or wife...or both, but for the love of all things good in HT do not waste it on the pile of flee riddled cow dung.

Oh and for the record I was OK with Alien v/s Predator, so thats not going to hold water either.

I rented this movie last night, and found it to be a huge piece of garbage.

"Garbage" is the word of choice, because there's other adjectives that come to mind above and beyond the word "garbage", but I don't want to subject anyone to a long string of profanity.

First of all, let's start with the basics.

The basic concept of the story (taken from a video game) is very cool, and could have been very interesting. But the written script.......the storyline....the dialogue is extremely amateurish and poorly thought out. Almost seems like the writers either rushed through it all, or have absolutely zero creativity and no imagination whatsoever. I suspect it's a combination of both.



The dialogue for this movie is so mundane and predictable, that I found myself sarcastically quoting the next upcoming lines, almost verbatim. So accurate were my sarcastic predictions, that my better half kept asking if I'd seen this movie before and finally, if I had written this script when I was 16-17 years old. I was offended by this last question :B :B :rofl:

The storyline is disjointed and convuluted. The characters ....shallow, unbelievable and just downright boring. Cardboard cut outs, would have had more depth and charisma.

Again, the writing for this movie is horrorific. Maybe that's where they got the notion that this was a "Horror" film.

Secondly, the Directing, story structure, scene sequence and editing is equally bad. I don't know what Uwe Boll was directing, but I suspect he spent more time directing traffic, than his actors.

Finally, let's talk about the "acting" or lack of.

No one in this movie did a good job. No one in this movie did even a mediocre job. Mediocre would have been an upgrade.

Slater seemed to be just going through the motions. I got the impression that Slater's agent just landed him a good role in a much better movie, and Slater just wanted to get this over with.

Tara Reid was terrible. I just don't get it with this woman. She's not all that attractive and her acting skills are shameful; I've never been impressed by anything she's done. Quite frankily, Pamela Anderson is a better "actress" than Tara, which is a pathetic statement.


The evil doctor was played very badly. I don't even want to know that "actors" name. So very bad.


One more thing.

Or else, you will come across one of the writers babbling and patting himself on the back, for what apparently he feels was a great job of writing. Its based on the old pc game which is based on hp lovecraft novel but those who have looked at it say that thier is no lovecraft or little in it at all,is this true?

Just to give everyone a glimpse into how bad this is, I never and I mean never notice mistakes in a movie and for me to catch something it has to be spelled out. The first one was no big deal there was a cab chase scene in which a now you see it now you don't happens with one of the cabs license plate...no biggie, but it was clear as a bell. The one that ticked me off was there was a scene in which a lady is on the ground and is dead, as they are nearing the end of this pathetic scene to go to the next you see the lady start to get up off the ground. Now understand, all the idiot had to do was lay there another second or two and the camera wouldnt have caught that, but in her defense all they had to do was reshoot the scene or edit that part out and, well I guess they were to engrossed in the quality to notice this...now that folks is amature

I could go on and on about some of the problems, but why bother, I have waisted more time talking about how bad this movie is than I normaly do when one is good.

This garbage was an insult to the excellent work done by H.P. Lovecraft.

I guess you could say there is a basis on the Lovercraft work, in the root of the storyline. But in no way does this ever come close to resembling Lovecraft in any way shape or form.

Okay, I've finally found a positive angle and spin for this movie.

Alone In The Dark is a perfect tutorial on how to NOT write, direct, act and edit a movie. :B

It is very educational in that way.

Foxman, I must have missed that part you refered to up above. Must have been during those times where I slipped in and out of coma....during this movie.

Yea, I caught that in the 22 minutes I watched it, which was all I could stand. I used to have the game that the whole story was Very Closely based on, it's called, “Gunman Chronicles”. Stupidest movie I've seen since "The Rock/Face Off"
