    Meet The Fockers PG13 Rating????

    Hello All,

Call me a stick in the mud here but does anyone think that the rating of a PG13 was just a little low for Meet the Fockers? My wife bought the movie and we watched it the other night with my 14 year old daughter, I was amazed at the sexual content and the amount of it for a PG13 rating :E . We ended up watching something else so we could all enjoy a movie together. It was funny when my wife and I finished it later but I found it to be a little racy for a 14 year old. I have noticed alot of movies are like this these days. I just wonder how far they will push the rating systems. I am real glad that we didnt go to the movies to see this and pay for it, we would have ended up leaving.

Depends on your standards, your kid, etc. For the general public, I'd say its rating is appropriate given what most 13 year olds are cognizant of.

For someone who leans toward a little more propriety or stresses stronger christian values, yes, it's probably over the line. But I would suggest that with the title Meet the Fockers, that should not really come as a surprise.

So no you are not a stick in the mud, I wouldn't probably want a 14 year old daughter or son watching it with or without me either, but I would have assumed that from the outset even without seeing it.

I think the PG-13 rating is a ploy by hollywood to get their (barely, cleaned up) borderline r-rated movies in front of a larger audience (for profit). It seems that someone will always use regulations or limits to push further towards the line drawn in the sand than they would have otherwise. I Think that the tendency now is to make r rated movies than take out whatever scenes necessary to get the pg-13 rating for the rental market if nothing else. A movie that comes to mind is "Stuck on You". If you have seen it there is a scene where one of the siamese...sorry conjoined twins is having sex behind a sheet while his brother is on a laptop. The sex stops for a sec so the brothers can talk ,then he asks if his brother can flip over for obvious reasons .. sure it was humorous but not exactly what I would want my 13 year old to see.
