Next Houston HT Group Meet Saturday, August 13, 2005

The next meet of the Houston HT Group is scheduled for Saturday, August 13, 2005. Last meet, some of us saw the nearly completed professionally designed HT that Lawrence Chui and his family were having built. Well, now it’s completed, and we’re invited back to see it in all it’s operational splendor.

The meet will begin at 10 AM with a “guided tour” and demo of the video and audio capabilities. Then we’ll break for lunch at a nearby restaurant at about noon for continued HT discussion around the table. After lunch, those who would like to go back are invited to enjoy a full length feature (yet to be selected) in the Chui’s home theater.

Although we are meeting in a professionally designed and built HT this time around, the Houston HT Group welcomes everyone who has a genuine interest in HT (and only you can judge that for yourself) regardless of whether you have a half million dollar custom-built movie palace in your home or are “making do” with a table radio and a ViewMaster ™. :>)

However, we do ask that you RSVP at HoustonHTGroup@hotmail.com or via private message to me at this forum if you want to participate on the 13th. I’ll be sending directions closer to the time of the meet to those who let us know they are planning to attend.

If you have suggestions for a restaurant on the far west side of town somewhere off the Eldridge Parkway (more toward Little York than 1-10) or have an idea for a “killer” movie with wide appeal to show off the Chui’s home theater, please share your thoughts here.

Hope to see you on the 13th!

What you DON'T say may be held against you...

If I move to Houston next month, could we setup a calibration event for my table radio and a ViewMaster ™? I sure hope so.

As far as that goes, if I am a remote member in the Tennessee branch of the Houston HT group, will you guys still come to my open house? Or will you come and open my house if I lock my keys in it?

    Enjoy the showing/dinner/and/a/movie folks!

Sure Lex, we're a full-service HT group. One comment tho'. We specialize in the early model View Masters, not the newer ones.

        Hey guys,
Any recommendations for Houston area A/V company to help me complete my new HT. New home is in design stages right now.
        Thank
        Kevin

          Try www.hometheaterstore.com
Don't expect much of a discount though.

            Thanks miner

I am not so worried about obtaining equipment. More worried about appropriate wiring prior to sheetrock.

              Kevin -

If you come to the meet on Saturday, August 13, you would have the opportunity to talk to the host, Lawrence Chui, about his experiences finding a suitable contractor for the build out of his HT, and he could probably save you a lot of time in your search for a good one.
