    Spaceballs FINALLY coming in Anamorphic

Found this one on Amazon--one of the movies I've been waiting to buy until they release at least a decent one that's anamorphic as a minimum:

Cool - I hope they also fixed the framing issue in the "nose job" scene.

I'll have to snag that one when it comes out.

I have to admit to being hot 'n cold on Mel Brooks movies. Young Frankenstein is one of my essential films, Blazing Saddles is a great, great comedy that he almost ruins with the ending, and Spaceballs just flat never made it out of the batter's box. It's been a looong time since I've tried to watch this, so maybe a new enhanced for 16x9 release is a good time to try again.

Wow, really David? I would have thought that you'd be a Spaceballs fan. I guess it's the Star Wars fan in me coupled with being a pilot and a very off sense of humor that makes me love Spaceballs.

Kev, what's the framing issue? Not enough zooming in on the nurse's uh... cleavage?

When they show the picture of Princess Vespa's old nose, it's so far over to the right side of the frame that the nose is cut off (unless you are fortunate enough to have a setup with no overscan). It kinda spoils the joke when you can't see the nose. :E

                "Commence operation vacu-suck!"

"No no, light speed is too slow!" "Too slow?" "We need to go straight to... LUDICROUS SPEED!"

"What the h*ll was that!?" "Spaceball One! They've gone to plaid!"

"Out of order!? F***! Even in the future nothing works!"

Too many great quotes to repeat here...

I'm another one who never liked Spaceballs all that much. Maybe I'll rent it to see if my opinion has changed after all these years.

                      Anamorphic vs. Non-Anamorphic
                      by Sonnie Parker
Since I'm just getting my new Toshiba Widescreen RPTV in I've been trying to understand a little more about Anamorphic and Non-Anamorphic DVD's.

Basically I know Anamorphic is better, but why?

I happen to be looking at 2 DVD's that are not on the Anamorphic database at...

                      Anamorphic Lens on Projectors?
                      by Chris D
I'm wondering what experience anyone has had using anamorphic lenses to change a 4:3 native resolution projector into one that naturally shows 16:9 widescreen, utilizing FULL vertical resolution. George, I know you specifically use your NEC PJ, which is native 4:3, but do you use an anamorphic lens?...

                      Anamorphic = Difference?
                      by Bing Fung
I presented this elsewhere but thought you guys may be interested....

I tried to capture a comparision between anamorphic and non anamorphic on my system. My XBR does the compression if the DVD player is set to 16x9. While the pictures hardly do real justice to the differences, I find...
