    Oh, remake hell

Apparently Michael Bay has the brilliant idea of re-making the Amittyville Horror due to the success of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre re-make.

    WHY????

There's nothing wrong with the original and nothing new to bring to the story.

I'm not sure what's becoming more annoying...re-making originals or re-editing?

    You pick

By "success" they must mean the amount of money it has been raking in at the box office, which apparently is far more than it cost to produce. I've seen several critical reviews award it "zero stars" (compared to four stars for the original). It'll be interesting to see if it has "legs" or is just a one weekend wonder.

I agree, the first Amityville was just fine. Leave it be and go find something original.

Remakes are far worse for me. Usually a wole group of people under some delusion they can improve on something, wasting resources that could have made a whole new movie, as opposed to some restless malcontent director who can't stop fiddling.

              by Shane Martin
FYI: This is the remake to a 1965 Jimmy Stewart movie which is also available now for $10.

Dennis Quaid is a pilot sent to Mongolia to do an evacuation. The plane crashes and the story pretty much revolves around their rescue or attempts to rescue themselves. The success of this is going...

              Straw Dogs remake
              by George Bellefontaine
Dear God, another remake. Anyway, the original Straw Dogs was directed by Sam Peckinpah and starred Dustin Hoffman. It was pretty violent and quite disturbing when I first saw it. But I like Peckinpah's work and got over the disturbing stuff. I have it in my dvd collection and have watched it several...

The Hills Have Eyes the remake
              by George Bellefontaine
The remake has pretty much the same storyline as the original ( family stuck in the desert and attacked by strange beings) but with a little embellishment. What I didn't like about the remake was the excessive gore. Anyway, I just rented it to see how it compared to the original ( which I have in my...

              The Hitcher... the remake
              by George Bellefontaine
In the original 1984 release, we had a nasty Rutger Hauer as the tormentor and C. Thomas Howell as the tormented. Jennifer Jason Leigh played the girl who eventually sympathizes with Howell's plight and ends up paying a high price. This was pretty good for its time and I feel it should have been left...
