What Fantasy Books Would You Like To See Made Into A Movie?

    Hi all,

In an ever widening attempt to find out what you like, and because Paul provided a nice segue in the Sci-Fi thread, what FANTASY books (or series) would you like to see made into REALLY GOOD movies or series of movies? Mine are:

The Martian Tales series by Edgar Rice Burroughs (the John Carter books)
The Chronicles Of Amber series by Roger Zelazny
The Fionavar Tapestry series by Guy Gavriel Kay
The Magician series by Raymond E. Feist
The Belgariad series by David Eddings

The John Carter books are one of my very earliest reads and consequently really important to me. They launched me into the world of sci-fi/fantasy at the tender age of 10 or so and I've been waiting 33 years for movies that will do them justice. Oh well. . .

    How about you?

        David,

I won't lie to ya, it's been forever since I've opened a book for casual reading. I guess it's so much easier, to allow someone else to tell/show me the story. I am going to work on that.

I think George pretty much nailed it! :B

            by George Bellefontaine
            FORGET CARTER.
Naw, that isn't fair. This was a valiant effort at a remake of the original Get Carter starring Michael Caine. Nice try but it just didn't make it. Stallone is not as nasty as Caine in the original. You actually find yourself pulling for Carter in this version, whereas you weren't...

Movie versions of books (or vice versa)
            by Chris D
This may be a good discussion. The topic is popular books that have been made into movies. By and large, my personal opinion is that movie renditions of good books fall far short for a few reasons. First, I think due to the media of print, books allow for a much more thorough immersion of the reader...
