Yes. I'm there when it opens here. Sounds like another winner from Eastwood. Not that we should only go to movies because they might sweep the awards, but from all accounts, this movie may be his ticket to another Oscar (or a mantle full of them). Even if not, it sounds like a sure bet for heavy duty entertainment value. I'll be especially interested in seeing how Hillary Swank handles her role.

Good to see Eastwood reunited with Freeman. They need the Schofield Kid in there!

              Rented It.

Well I finally saw this today on DVD. I thought it was a great film. The only caveat I found was some dragging and uneeded material in the beginning which sometimes caused the film to lose it's engrossing quality.

Morgan Freeman (one of my favorite actors) was fantastic, Hillary Swank played another powerful performance, and Clint Eastwood finally played a part that I enjoyed seeing him in.

I can see how this won Best Picture of 2004. I enjoyed other nominees as well such as Sideways, Finding Neverland, and The Aviator, but I thought Ray topped all of these.

              :4: out of :5:

I pretty much agree with what Nick says, but I have to say, the conclusion was pretty damn depressing. As much as I liked the film, I wouldn't care to watch it again. I watched it last night and I'm still feeling depressed. Glad I only rented it.

Picked this up the other day after renting.

2004 certainly had some excellent films...

The wife and I watched this film last weekend (after her persistance, I did not want to see it). I found this film boring. I was trying to get into it, but just found it too unbelievable. It seemed to just drag with all the actors had this "the world has done me wrong" attitude thoughout the movie. I love boxing and clint, and freeman for that matter, but this story was just dark and gloomy and just boring to me.

                      Finally watched it!

Overall it was pretty good but I have to say I was a bit dissapointed... Another case of expectations raised too high I think

I certainly felt Ray and Finding Neverland were better films and this was more on par with Spanglish for quality (which I actually went into with only mediocre expectations)

So overall a good movie, I just expected "more"...

3.75 out of 5 for me.

It's on HBO rotation so I watched it twice (I missed the begining the first time.)

                        It is indeed depressing.

I thought it lacked depth the first time I watched it. After the second viewing I realized it was me that lacked depth ..

An excellent, powerful (anti) war movie contrasting brutal militarism with human perspectives. A portrait is eloquently painted of the truth that the war machine is savagery itself - not the soldiers on either side (who, in most ways were alike). The way that this movie is put forward, from the Japanese...

Clint Eastwood is getting a lot of good airtime on his direction of this film, and Sean Penn's acting is getting similar hype. Haven't seen the film as yet, but I got a feeling this will be a collector's item as far as dvd goes.

On a side note, during an interview, Eastwood was asked...

Just like watching a Cary Grant or John Wayne movie, watching a movie with Clint Eastwood in it rarely gives us a surprise. It does, however, rarely disappoint. Nothing fancy or revolutionary about Trouble with the Curve. Just a couple of hours in the company of a old favourite (and a fine Amy Adams...

The days since September 11 have yielded many emotions among not only American people, but much of the world. It was very comforting to see our Brothers and Sisters of the World unite in sympathy, in mourning, giving our Hero's that died in New York and Washington, a Hero's tribute.
