Bug in 1068 Test Tone setup

    Hi there,

I just got myself a shiny new RSP 1068 with the latest(1.1.7) firmware and it seems to be playing up.

I've reset it to factory defaults and gone into the 'speaker setup' and set 'center back' to 'none', but when I press menu, the 'system status' screen shows CB1 as in use(highlighted). I can fix this by going back and selecting center back as small1, etc, pressing enter and then going back and selecting 'none' a second time. This is no problem and fixed easily, but is it normal? and related to the biggest problem which is:

The test tone controls are all screwy!

They work after a factory default reset, but after renaming my inputs, setting the crossovers and turning off the rear centre speakers I can only set my rear channels to min(which is +7dB!), +8dB, or +9dB. Center is stuck on min, Front right will only do min and 3dB...generally screwy stuff, instead of the normal 1dB increments.

Any idea what the problem is, please?

    Thanks,
    Michael

    quadhammer,

Power it off and leave it off for 10 minutes - the do a reset and try again. If it still doesn't work - take it back for a new one

I remember there being an issue with the test tones if you have your main volume low. You are not trying to adjust the main volume while you are adjusting test tones are you? The problem with the speakers showing highlighted is probably a simple software labeling problem and not anything that I have seen before. I would reinstall the latest software and then do another reset on it once you have done this.

Thanks for the advice guys. After a nice sleep it seems to have fixed itself, and I can make +/- 1dB adjustments now.

Sub Test Tone Level (should be) Fixed in RSP-1098 Upgrade
          by Aussie Geoff
          Hi,

It was suggested to me by one of my sources that the DSP EPROM update in the latest RSP-1098 firmware release (plus the native EPROM code in the RSP-1068 and RSX-1067) fixed the issue that many of us RSP-1098 owners had with the Sub level in the Test Tone menu being 10 dB too low

          RSP1066 Test Tone
          by zeppelin
I have 1 question about the Test Tone on the centre channel.
When I use the SPL meter to calibrate my centre speaker using the internal pink noise from the 1066 at 75db, the centre is set at 0db.
But when I use the Test Tone from my DVD source pink noise like the "Video Essential"...

RSX-1067 No test tone from Center Back
          by ka724ka
          Hi,
I just owned this receiver to replace with my old cheap one that I brought 5 year ago.

The setup was pretty smooth. I hooked up all 7 speakers which I used on the old receiver, when I tried to test them with test tone in the setting, I found out there is no test tone output...

          Subwoofer Test Tone on 1066
          by nash
I've never really used the LFE output on my 1066 since I use Def Tech towers with built-in subs. With just the towers hooked up to L/R, the sound in movies is great and there's plenty of low frequency response. However, I thought I'd experiment and see how it performed differently if I used the optional...

          Denon 3910 Test Tone Issue
          by Hoopofficial
I was trying to recalibrate my Denon 3910 but the test tones are not constant. They Buzz, stop, Buzz, stop etc.. Has anyone else experienced this issue. I do have the most recent firmware upgrade. Test tones worked before I installed the "upgrade" but I installed it months ago and never re-checked...
