    can I use 2 1075 to drive a 7.1 setup?

Can I use 2 1075 amps to power a 7.1 setup, where the front 3 channels gets 240 wpc and the 4 surrounds get 120 wpc?

    Blazemaster,

    Yes

We have several members who do just this by using the extra 1075 channels for bi-amping. A great combo is to use 6 of the 2 x 1075 channels to bi-amp the front 3 speakers and the remaining 4 channels for the 4 rear speakers.

There are several good threads in this forum and in Club B&W on how to do this, which include pictures etc.

There is a THREAD to get you started and then try your own searches for a range of opinions!

      What benefits would you get from 2 x 1075 (bi-amping 5 channels), as opposed to a 1 x 1095? Because 2 x 1075 are cheaper than 1 x 1095...

That's not an easy question to answer. Really two 1075's does not equal one 1095 even when bi amping. The reason being is that just becasue you're sending two cables each with 120 watts in them to the same speaker with a bi amped 1075 doesn't mean the speaker gets 240 watts in total as there's a number of factors in the speakes cross over to consider. Depending on the speaker bi amping can be a significant improvement..but not always and usually not as big as a single power amp like the 1095 etc.

If 7.1 is what you're going after the most common recomendation given here is for the 1075 paired up with a 1080 for the front.

1075 is $1000 US list, 1095 is $2000 US list... so two 1075 is the same price, not less... and like Andrew said, one 1095 is better than two 1075's... not to mention two 1075's will cost a LOT more to run if you get good interconnects and cables... all that money spent into ONE GOOD SET of interconnects, cables, and amp will produce better results.

                  G'day,

1075 is $1000 US list, 1095 is $2000 US list... so two 1075 is the same price, not less...
Actually, in Australia, you can pick up a 1075 for around AUD$1000, and a 1095 for around AUD$2500.

...and like Andrew said, one 1095 is better than two 1075's... not to mention two 1075's will cost a LOT more to run if you get good interconnects and cables... all that money spent into ONE GOOD SET of interconnects, cables, and amp will produce better results.
                  Just as well I'm replacing my 1075 with a 1095 then :-)

Well, I've tried a 1095 vs. a 1075... 1095 clear winner. I've tried a 1090 vs. 1095 in 2 ch... 1090 clear winner... I've tried using a 1095 to bi-amp just the fronts for 2 ch and personally didn't like the results... also tried 1080 for highs and 1095 for lows in biamp configuration (essentially the same as 1095 bi-amp above) with similar results... so I can't imagine 2 1075's would be better than one 1090 in 2 channel.
