    Rotel XS surround mode

    Hi Folks,

I'm trying to figure out if the XS surround processing works on analog
inputs so I can make use of all 4 surround speakers (side + rear).
After reading the rotel 1055 manual it looks like XS only
works on digital inputs but I'm not 100% sure.

I'd like to know that the surround back channels will be used
when I watch analog sources (eg VCR input) which I like to view in
    DPLII mode.

    Thanks

Yes the XS processing will engage on analog modes if you let it....meaning if you have 6 or 7 speakers and choose pro logic II decoding it will use the XS processing to decode the rear channels.

Thanks Andrew, that's cleared up that - the 1055 (and 1066) manual
seemed to suggest it only worked with digital sources.

      Cheers

Probably what they meant to say is that XS only works with digitally processed signals. For an analog input, if you stay in stereo mode you're actually using the analog bypass and the signal is never touched by the DSP's. On the other hand, if you select ProLogic-2 or one of the other surround/DSP modes, then the analog signal is converted to digital and processed by the DSP's, in which case XS processing can also be applied.

          RSX-1055 vs RSP-1068 2 channel
          by soundhound
I am sure this has been a topic b-4 but here goes anyway. I started into Rotel w/ the RSP-980, RMB-1075 power amp. I moved "up" to an RSX-1055 for a pre-pro. I love the improved processing capabilities and sound of the surround channels w/ the 1055, but it doesnt hold a candle to the 980 for...

          So, here's the deal.

Demo'd the 1065, NAD T672 and Pioneer Elites. Rotel won. Or else I wouldn't be here, right?

But then the dealer didn't have it in stock (holding out for the silver, but let's not get sidetracked on that because I'm even rethinking the color choice)....

UPDATE: Since we are doing a new Q&A, I thought I would bump this up in case anyone missed it the first time. A good way to see what has already been asked.

          Hello everyone,

As you know, Dave Nauber offered an intimate Q&A with the members of Club Classe....

          RSX-1056: 7.1 analog input for Blu-Ray
          by fvoelling
          Hi,

I've been running a 1056 with a 7.1 speaker setup for a couple of years now, and started watching Blu-Ray movies from a PS3 80GB model last year. The PS3 is connected to the 1056 with digital coax and component.

Since my current setup is limited to 5.1 and 6.1, both...
