CD audio - Analog or Digital

Here's a question for you all.

    I use my DVD player (Pioneer 656A) for DVD's, CD's, and DVD-A's.

When I'm watching a DVD, I of course need to use the optical out.
When I'm listening to DVD-A's, I need to use the multi-channel analog outs.

My question is when I'm listening to a straight 2 channel CD. I can have my Rotel RSP-1066 receive the signal via the 2 channel analog outputs from the player, OR I can also have it receive the signal via the optical output.

Which is better? I'm guessing it would be better to have my Rotel take just the 1's and 0's from the optical out. No?

    Thanks for the input.

Try both and use the one that you think sounds better.

With my Sony 775 SACD player when playing redbbod CD's I prefer the digital connection to my 1055.
