should i buy the 1098 preamp?

I've just started spending my 401K on improving my "living" life..just bought 1095 amp and 1072 CD player as well as some B&W's..the wife is going to SH** when shes sees the bill..oh well what she going to do..she lives movies too!
Is the 1098 a good addition to one's kit? I have a low end marantz all in one right now. I'm ready to have a couple of pints and go get it Friday!

    Cheers

    Howdy Martin,

I have just bought a 1098 and it is the best purchase I have ever made. It really is a teriffic unit. Couple that with the rest of setup and you have invetsed wisely.

Love the B&Ws they're next on my list.

      Martin,

I too would highly recommend the 1098, I have had mine now for about 3 months and it can't be beat at this price or quite a bit higher. I am also running the 1095 with B&W CDM speakers and man-o-man movies and music are a real treat! Don't hesitate, you won't look back.

I own the RSP-1098, and it has been a very joyful purchase I have no regrets.
It will definitely make those B&W's sing, oh btw, your next purchase may be the Rotel RB-1080 for musical pleasure. Get them both at the same time, that way your wife can only be peturbed once

            Good luck,

            Azeke

              I like Azeke's advice! :B

Seriously though the 1098 is a great machine. Be sure to compare it with similar priced units at your dealer to make sure you'll like it. Other than that, enjoy :T

                many thanks

Thanks to all for taking time to respond to my question..this is fun! Now the next question..how should i spend the next $3K on the 1098 (to rplace my Marantz) or get B&W 805's to replace my Cambridge Soundworks rears??

                Cheers

Oooooh that's to close for me to call.... I'm out!

Edit:Did you say rears?...I'm going with 1098 by a nose. If you were upgrading the mains....too close to call.

I'm with Jason. The 1098 by a nose in preference to buying (now) the 805 rears - get them on the next purchase!

                        1098 it is!

I aggree with you folks who say get both(which may still happen) but my Rotel dealer said he feels the most impact on my system now would be with the 1098..i agree no sense upgrading the rears if the surround unit is not equal to my 1095 amp.
My wife accually suprised my this AM by agreeing that we might as well get the 1098(she does not know it cost $3K) and do it up right..what the hell my philosiphy is this..you never know how may days on this planet one has left..make your current living space as enjoyable as possible. Enjoy each and every day. I'm sure many of you guys/girls uot there feel the same way.

Thanks again for the imput..talk to you soon...

                          I second on that
When I upgraded from Integra 8.2 to 1098 the sound quality blew me away.
                          You will not be disappointed.
Get a really good amp for fronts 1080 or 1090 or something competitive in similar power.

I have a 1098 with the 1095 Amp. I usually play it loud, at around 75 per the Rotel 1098. I just purchased new speakers (Paradigm ref 100v3) that can handle a lot more power (350WPC) than my old ones.

Can I safely go higher than 75? When I audiotioned these the sales rep said 80 would...
