I'm currently using a Pioneer Elite VSX55 Txi as a pre/pro and the Rotel 1075 as the amp (powering a Def Tech setup). I've been happy with the sound but made the mistake of popping into my dealer who said he'd swap the Pioneer (which I got from him about 5 months ago; added the amp about a month ago) plus around $100 for a Rotel 1068. That's gotten me thinking. While I realize the best thing to do is to try out and listen to the 1068 in my system, I'd like to know people's thoughts on whether this would be considered an improvement or more a lateral move. I've read various things which suggest that there is not much difference between receivers and pre/pros in the $2500 (Canadian) range. Your thoughts?
Does this upgrade make sense?

First Question: When turning on my system, I turn on the tv, 1068, and HD DSS receiver. I have not yet programmed my pronto so I am not doing it any particular order. What...-

by radurayUntil just a month ago, I had a SD Sony 36” Wega CRT as the video component of my system. Feeding it, using component from the 1068, was an S-Video cable box and a S-Video/Component 480p Pioneer DVD/CD player/recorder. Sound from the Cable Box and the DVD/CD Player was via the digital coax and...-
