    1056 losing audio after fast-forwarding?

    Hi,

It seems that my 1056 "loses" the audio signal when I fast-forward too much/long (?) on the DVD player (Zenith DVB-318 ). The audio connection is optical, mode was DTS (haven't tried it with DD).

Switching to another video input and then back to the one for the DVD player restores the audio (one time had to to it twice).

    Anybody else have this problem?

    Thx,
    Frank

I have the same problem with my 1068. A firmware upgrade to the DVD player appeared to cure it, but it has happened a few times since then (albeit less frequently).

If I pause playback for longer than a minute or so, it also loses the audio. Pressing Play to resume is met with silence, and I have to switch to another input and back again.

        hazard,

Do you use optical or coax for your digital audio connection between DVD and Rotel? Mine's optical.

I don't think it's the DVD player - how could it be affected by switching video inputs on the Rotel? It must be the fact that during fast forward or pause, the audio is not sent by the DVD player, and the Rotel somehow loses "lock" or "sync" or whatever you want to call it.

I use coax to hook up my DVD player.

The problem was much worse before the firmware upgrade on my DVD player. It was extremely easy to reproduce. Any operation such as pause, fast forward or rewind had about a 50% chance of audio loss. Now, however, it occurs much less frequently.

Seeing as nothing else changed, I must conclude that the player had something to do with it.

Also, prior to the upgrade, I tried another DVD player. That machine only "lost" audio about as frequently as my current player, post-upgrade.

This is all getting a bit confusing

I believe there is/was an issue with both DVD player AND processor. The firmware upgrade tweaked some flags or settings on the player and improved matters drastically. Now if we could get a similar tweak on the processor, we may get rid of the problem once and for all.

There is an issue with some players that don't keep sending the audio signal during pause/FF/RW etc. As such the Rotel loses sync with the audio. In most cases people have found F/W upgrades for the player or a different player have solved the problem.

I just got a Rotel RSX-1056 and I really like the unit because of the fact that you may send different audio outputs from different audio inputs.

                    RSX 1055 vs 1056 MULTI input ?
                    by Ijon_Tichy
Based on reviews, it seems clear that the 1056 does audio better than the 1055 due to better DAC's and electronics.

But if the MULTI input is just a pass through, is there going to be an audible difference between these two models when feeding analog from an HTPC, DVD-A, SACD, etc?...

                    by fvoelling
I recently switched to Comcast cable and tried to watch some NFL playoff games in HD on my projector. The Motorola cable box is connected via component to the 1056, which in turn is connected via component-to-RGA to the projector. I had watched a few HD movies that way before and everything worked fine....
